This qualification is for those wanting to enter the Electrical industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge and gives you the opportunity to progress onto our Level 2 Electrical Installation qualifications
This qualification is aimed at learners who want to learn the basic skills and knowledge of Electrical Installation.
For this course you will need to have achieved the following:
GCSEs in Maths and English 3 or above, plus two other GCSEs 4 or above.
On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements further.
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electrotechnical sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:
Structure of the construction industry
• Fundamental safe working practices
• Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
• Site preparation for working in the construction industry
• Electrical installation wiring and terminations
• Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
• Electrical science and technology
Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above. If you have achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will engage in extending these skills through a Directed Study Programme.
To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments:
• Structure of the construction industry
• Fundamental safe working practices.
• Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings.
• Site preparation working in the construction industry.
• Electrical installation wiring and terminations.
• Fabrication techniques for electrical installations.
• Electrical science and technology.
All of the above assessments are set by the City and Guilds, delivered and marked by the assessor, they will then be externally verified by City and Guilds.
GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications are assessed through external examination and portfolio work.

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:
· Level 2 Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation (Maths and English GCSEs 4 or above must be achieved)
· Apply for an Apprenticeship in the construction industry.
